Fearful of the Italian army's advance, Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia has 90,000 tribesmen moving toward the contested frontier. CENSOR APPROVES BEACH STYLES New swimsuit fashions are modeled for the Atlantic City police censor who makes the official decision on their acceptance for beach wear. CAMPBELL NEARS RECORD IN RACE CAR British race car driver Sir Malcolm Campbell sets a daring pace of 270.5 mph as he roars over rough Florida sands in his Bluebird. GERMANY REBUILDS ARMY Ignoring provisions of the Treaty of Versailles limiting military and naval forces, Germany places heavier armaments on land and sea while training increased numbers of troops. SENATOR NYE DENOUNCES WAR The Chairman of the Munitions Investigating Committee declares that the American people are opposed to armed conflict. JOB AND AGE SECURITY SEEN Senator Wagner of New York hails the passage of his Social Security measure and explains the bill's provisions for eliminating hardships resulting from unemployment and old age. STRATOSPHERE MARK BROKEN Captains Stevens and Anderson of the Army Air Corps and the National Geographic Society soar 14 miles high for a new altitude record. FDR PROMISES NO WAR The President reiterates America's policy of avoiding entangling alliances. MANHATTAN NEW YEAR'S EVE The biggest crowds in twenty years jam Times Square to hail the end of 1935 in a joyous, noisy demonstration of faith in the peace and prosperity they expect in the coming year.
