Description: One blank luggage tag, which came from the estate of the late Wallis Warfield Spencer Simpson, The Duchess of Windsor. These rare tag was acquired from the Duke & Duchess of Windsor estate sale originally scheduled by Sotheby’s for September 11-19, 1997, under lot #1660. The auction was postponed until early 1998 due to the death of Princess Diana. Now you can own a piece of this famous couple’s estate. This medium-weight oak tag is in excellent condition without any folds, creases, foxing, or damage. Measures 2 5/8” x 5 3/16. Imprinted black ink with “The Duchess of Windsor” on each side of the yellow tag. Other tags from the original Sotheby’s lot can be found on pages 289, 301, 302 & 303 of the Sotheby’s Duke & Duchess of Windsor Private Collections Catalogue. The photo of Sotheby’s sales tag is shown as proof of provenance but is not part of this auction sale.
