THE WILLIAM TALLON COLLECTION
The lifetime collection of William Tallon (known affectionately as 'Backstairs Billy') who was a longstanding servant of the Royal Family, goes to auction on July 5, 2008 at Reeman Dansie Auctions and includes letters, notes and gifts Tallon received from members of the Royal family over the years. Several Duke & Duchess of Windsor items are on sale including an oil on canvas painting by artist Sir James Gunn, RA, PRP (1893-1964) of The Duke and Duchess of Windsor - The Duke standing and resting on the mantlepiece and the Duchess seated in the drawing room of the Moulin de la Tuilerie, Gif-sur-Yvette, France, with the reflection of the Sir Alfred Munnings picture of the Duke on horseback in the overmantel mirror - painted in Paris in 1954. Lot 546. It also includes hundreds of other royal memorabilia from Princess Diana, the Queen, the Queen Mother, and many others.
